Concept Design of New Central Library Released, Phase Two Consultations Begin

Saskatoon Public Library has released the concept design for the new central library. Designed by Alfred Waugh (Formline Architecture) and Stephan Chevalier (Chevalier Morales Architectes), the building’s concept draws inspiration from traditional First Nation and Métis architecture. The exterior of the building references the First Nation tipi, while the interior mass timber structure references the Métis log cabin. The design will continue to evolve as the process continues over the next year.

In addition to releasing the concept design report, the second phase of community consultations is also taking place from Jun 1 to 25. During this phase, the focus will be on refining the layout of interior spaces. Residents can participate in a wide range of consultation activities, including online surveys, Kitchen Table Kits and conversations with the design team.
