Message from the Board to the Saskatoon Community
The Saskatoon Public Library (SPL) Board has received the resignation of Carol Cooley, the Director of Libraries & CEO. We appreciate the many contributions Ms. Cooley made during her time at SPL. She contributed to initiating the new central library project and oversaw the design process during her tenure. She also helped SPL make great strides in our reconciliation efforts and oversaw the modernization of multiple library spaces.
We have appointed Beth Côté as Interim Director of Libraries & CEO. Ms. Côté has a long and successful history with SPL and has been the Director of Public Services since 2016.
We remain committed to excellent community-inspired library services. We have full confidence in the interim CEO and SPL leadership team and employees to maintain operations through this period. As a Board, we would like to express our gratitude in advance for their dedication to the community.
The new central library project remains a top priority for us. The work to align the design to the construction budget has begun. Construction will start in the summer of 2024, with a projected opening in 2027. We have confidence in the team to deliver an excellent central library for the community.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Saskatoon Public Library.
