The Innovation Lab at the Rusty Macdonald Library has fun and educational technology for all ages and abilities! Patrons can use the Innovation Lab during the library’s open hours. Children under 10 must be accompanied by a caregiver who is at least 12 years old. Library employees are available for limited assistance.

Robots that spark your creativity! Develop problem-solving skills while playing games and puzzles.
Cubelets
Combine colour-coded magnets to create your own robot. You can use different coloured Cubelets each with their own functions to grow your robot while learning about creating computer programing.
Bee Bots
BeeBots are the perfect starting point to learn sequencing, estimation and problem-solving skills while having fun. BeeBot activities include creating mazes, undertaking rescue missions or visiting different countries on a map.
Pixel Board
The pixel board introduces you to image representation. Use black and white mosaic tiles to create images on cork boards.
Cubetto
A wooden robot toy that teaches programming basics. Using a block-based coding language discover programming concepts and create your first programs.
Binary Tree
Learn the concepts of tree data structures with the Binary Tree. Sort the branches and connectors and build your own tree.
Binary Tower
Learn the binary number system with the Binary Tower. Fill the towers that are arranged according to place value completely with wooden balls to discover the binary number for the matching number of balls.

Start learning the binary number system by flipping through the cards and counting the dots.
Keva Planks
Create contraptions and works of art using the Keva wooden planks.

Use the MacBook with Adobe Creative Suite to edit and create images and videos. Programs include but are not limited to Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, iMovie, Quicktime and GarageBand.
