New Central Library Construction Contract Awarded to Ledcor Construction Limited

We are excited to announce that Ledcor Construction Limited, one of North America’s largest and most diversified construction companies, has been awarded the construction contract for the new central library. We chose this team because of their approach to the project, their team’s relevant project experience, the experience of their key personnel, their quality management plan, and their experience in achieving cost savings on previous projects.

The services provided under the contract are:

  1. Pre-construction services: work alongside the design and engineering teams to identify design efficiencies that allow us to construct the library within the project’s budget.
  2. Construction management services: once the design aligns with the schedule and budget, construction will begin and Ledcor will see the building through to completion.

The cost of pre-construction services is $544,229 and the fixed construction services are valued at $16,791,624, including tax. The construction fees are part of the overall project budget.

The redesign work to align the design to the construction budget will start immediately and we anticipate beginning construction in the summer of 2024 with an opening date in 2027.
