SPL Discontinuing Lending of Video Games
Saskatoon Public Library will discontinue lending video games at the end of the day on Nov 1, 2023. On this date, video games will be removed from library shelves and the online catalogue.
The video game collection is expensive to maintain, serves a relatively small number of patrons and has been a target for theft. We will be reallocating the budget to digital collections of eBooks and eAudiobooks, thereby helping meet the increasing patron demand for these items.
SPL will be keeping some video games for use in the gaming rooms at the Rusty Macdonald and Round Prairie libraries (which will remain operational).
